The socket head screw (Robertson Screw) was invented by P.L. Robertson who opened a factory in Milton, Ontario in 1908.The major advantage of this screw is that, unlike a slot head or Phillips, the screwdriver can not slip out of the head during installation. The Ford Motor Company was the first major customer and used more than 700 Robertson screws on each body of its Model T car!
